Thien “Lac” — A Resilient Little Flower at Mai Am Thien Duyen
At Mai Am Thien Duyen in Cu Chi, there is a special boy named Thien “Lac.” Born with disabilities due to the effects of Agent Orange, Thien’s head constantly trembles, his frail body struggles, and he is unable to speak. The day he was abandoned by the roadside, an elderly motorbike taxi driver brought him to the shelter of “Ma Muoi”—the mother to all the less fortunate souls.
Despite being surrounded by illness, Thien brings joy with his sparkling eyes and innocent smile. Ma Muoi, with boundless love, has cared for him like her own child. Thien is a small but resilient flower, a living miracle within the shelter, reminding everyone that with love, every life, no matter how imperfect, can blossom.
Thien Duyen Shelter is more than a place of refuge; it is where children like Thien find love, care, and hope. Under Ma Muoi's roof, each child is nurtured not only physically but also emotionally, enveloped in the warmth of human kindness. With an open heart, Ma Muoi embraces every child without discrimination, even those societies have forgotten. In this home, love is never in short supply—simple meals warm the heart, and Ma Muoi’s words of encouragement help the children overcome pain and strive forward in life.
